AVM Africa (Pvt) Ltd manufactures and assembles buses and trucks from a 5.16 hectare plant in Msasa, Harare — built for Africa's roads, backed by six decades of engineering heritage.
Years of bus & truck manufacturing heritage in Zimbabwe
AVM Africa (Private) Limited, formerly W. Dahmer & Co. Private Limited, was formed in March 1961 and became locally owned after London-listed Lonrho PLC sold its shareholding in November 2002. AVM Africa is now owned 95% by Lonrho Zimbabwe Ltd, a local indigenous company.
Our bus and truck plant sits on 5.1559 hectares of prime land in Msasa, with capacity to assemble and manufacture 25 buses per month on a single shift — doubling to 50 on double shift. Beyond assembly, we offer nationwide repairs and maintenance, both on-site and offsite.
We stand with the national mantra of building a prosperous Zimbabwe — leaving no one and no place behind.
To remain a leading bus and truck supplier in Zimbabwe, and a regional leader in the supply of AVM buses and trucks by 2028, through franchise acquisition and world-class strategic joint ventures.
To provide customers with solutions for transporting people and goods by road with high quality and reliability that best satisfy their needs.
Building a prosperous Zimbabwe. The motor industry is a driver of industrialisation, critical to the Nation's Vision 2030 and Strategic Development Goals.
Locally assembled buses deliver measurable advantages over fully imported alternatives — for the country and for our customers.
One imported bus buys two complete knocked-down (CKD) chassis kits — twice the fleet for the same import spend.
100+ local SMEs are subcontracted for seats, glass, aluminium frames, rubber, paints and more — 20,000 jobs across the chain.
CKD suppliers transfer the latest assembly technologies, positioning AVM Africa as a globally competitive bus exporter.
Our Technical Department trains drivers and mechanics on maintenance to extend the useful life of every bus in operation.
From standard rural buses to semi-luxury coaches, AVM Africa is one of the few companies in the world that manufactures a bus from chassis assembly to finishing under one roof — fully customisable to your specification.
Our flagship intercity coach, custom-liveried for corporate and institutional clients. Semi-luxury specification with full glazing, and available with DAF, Scania, Mercedes or Volvo power.
Buses are custom made with accessories fitted to each customer's specification and branding.
A long-haul touring coach built for comfort on regional and cross-border routes.
Rugged, dependable transport for schools and rural communities countrywide.
Right-sized fleets for urban routes, institutions and private operators.
Comfort-engineered seating, trim and finishing completed entirely in-house.
Bus assembly is only the beginning — our teams support every vehicle for the life of the fleet.
Custom-built buses from chassis to finishing, powered by VDL, FAW and Cummins engines.
